About This Project

The Rosedale Valley String Orchestra, founded in 2002 by Naomi Delafield, is a Christian organization consisting of string students from across central Alberta, Canada. Many RVSO graduates have gone on to play in the Burman University Chamber Orchestra and several have chosen to pursue professional careers in music.

The orchestra is committed to making a difference with each note they play, not only in their local community, but also in the lives of children around the world. Thanks to local aid organization, ‘A Better World Canada’ directed by Eric Rajah, they have completed 10 years of fund-raising partnership to benefit orphans and mothers in Afghanistan and Africa, providing funds for schools, medical needs and food.

The orchestra enjoys collaborating with local youth choirs and orchestras, including the Central Alberta Home School Choir, Red Deer Youth and Community Orchestra, ‘Ihana’ youth choir and the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra.

In 2011 a small group from RVSO traveled to Kenya where they shared concerts and taught music in several communities.

The greatest success of RVSO to date has been in preparing young citizens to go out and make a difference in their communities and beyond.
