Project / Sheberghan Water Project

About This Project

Serving: 10 Villages
People: 6,000
Wells: 49
Invested: $53,553

About the project

A Better World has funded the installation of wells in desperate need of water. Each well costs $1,300. These wells will include donor visibility, pump, casings, concrete platform, and installation. Limited natural fresh water resources; inadequate supplies of potable water; soil degradation; overgrazing; deforestation (much of the remaining forests are being cut down for fuel and building materials); desertification; air and water pollution are features of Afghan geography that contribute to the need for a clean water source. The provision of wells in the Sheberghan District of Jawzjan Province will ensure that approximately 30 families per well will benefit from this project as they will have access to clean drinking water. They will therefore have a decreased risk of suffering from diarrhea and other water-borne illnesses.
