Wednesday, October 25 2023 – A view from the window

I have spent the last month with a group of 26 supporters who are visiting one or more of Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. A Better World was started with a handful of volunteers and $5000. Today, we are surrounded by hundreds of caring and generous people. Because of that, we have more than 56,000 students enrolled in schools we have built or improved. There have been roadblocks along the way. Some as big as elephants and others as small as zebras. We have moved along because of people who care. Thank you for making a better world possible for some of these children. It is time to get back home with a different view from the window.

Saturday, October 21 2023 – Completed Our Project Visits

We completed our project visits in Tanzania today. Visited potential and past projects. Met up with Doctors whose work we support. Dropped off Gord Bontje at Kilimanjaro airport for his flight home. Great to have him on trips. Great ambassador and keeps us all on task. Nudges the Govt. For more support. Thanks for being with us for nearly three weeks. Tomorrow I travel back to Nairobi with Lawrence Mathea to finish up some work and head home in a few days.

October 18 and 19 2023 – Left for Tanzania

Gord Bontje, Lawrence Mathea and I left for Tanzania. We met up with Ramso our driver and guide at the border. It was a 12 hour drive to our project site. Today we spent the whole day visiting completed projects and scoping new projects. Visited the hospital to see the rehab equipment and motorcycle in place for community visits. It was a very productive day.

Monday, October 16 2023 – Opening a Water Project

An exciting day as we opened a community water project in Manda-Maweni in Lamu, Kenya. We travelled by boat, motorcycles and tractor. Warren Kay’s Birthday donations made this possible. A pipeline is anchored to the ocean floor for 2.1km to carry the water from a well. A swim in the ocean, a dhow ride and a birthday celebration for Warren Schnoor completed the day.

Saturday, October 14 2023 – Hot Air Balloon Ride

Hot air balloon day. So many things happened on our last day in the Mara. Most went on the balloon adventure. Another group went to see classrooms we had built. Gord Bontje and I went to see the newest classrooms gifted by Dale Russell and Majella. Gord planted a tree in appreciation. The highlight was the evening sunset reception for our drivers. Each group said thanks and goodbye to this incredible group of drivers.
