A Surprise Visit from Young Humanitarians

Four Grade 5 students from Lacombe Upper Elementary School kicked off their spring break with an act of generosity, delivering donations from their own fundraiser to four different Lacombe charities.

Principal Craig Fullarton said Khalel Abarro, Gavin Barnwell, Will Gillett, and Leo Jackson weren’t prompted by the school, but they had been hearing a lot of messages about kindness in their program. They came up with the idea for the fundraiser and carried it out all by themselves.

With help from their families, the boys put together raffle prizes and sold tickets around the school. They raised $440, and each chose a charity for the proceeds. Khalel chose A Better World to receive his quarter of the total. The $110 share will go toward new desks for classrooms in Kenya.

Thank you Khalel, Gavin, Will, and Leo!
