During his chairmanship of A Better World, he helped it grow and travelled to many countries to work with A Better World, especially in crises. He was in Kenya during the post-election violence, Louisiana during Katrina and Sri Lanka after the Tsunami. He was a voice of reason, compassion and generosity. He will be remembered for his love for children and belief in providing young people with a bright future.
Community and parent involvement is an essential aspect of A Better World projects. When the community invests with ABW, they take ownership of the projects and help ensure project sustainability. It also helps to develop close relationships in the community. ABW is pleased to see the community get involved with the Manyatta Secondary School project in Kenya as they help paint, remove materials, and clean around the work site.
It was a joy to bring my whole family with me to Segera Mission. Three incredible weeks in Kenya of serving with my family and showing them the community, the culture, the joy, and the life that is taking place will be a great delight I carry with me for years to come! – Josh Dorrell
Thanks to our generous donors, eight new toilets have been completed for the boys and girls at Huhoini Primary School. The previous toilets were in poor condition and lacked sanitation. This achievement will help with hygiene issues and will permit the Ministry of Education to allow the Special Needs program to be officially registered. ABW thanks everyone involved in this project and is grateful for the support.
