It is with mixed feelings that I announce that my friend and co-founder Brian Leavitt and I are retiring from our work with A Better World. After 32 years, we have realized it is time to put the reins in new hands and continue to see A Better World flourish while we are still able to guide the organization.
The Board of Directors has initiated a search for a new Executive Director and the position is being advertised. It will become a paid position, with funding already in place. When the new person is chosen, I will set the official date for my retirement, allowing time for training and a transfer of authority. Brian’s retirement will open a position on the Board of Directors as well; recruitment of a new director is on-going.
When we began pursuing our dream of service to make a better world more than three decades ago, we never imagined how many people, filled with generosity and compassion, would join us on our journey. I want to thank all of you for the roles you have played in turning our dreams into reality, and for so much that you have done to help people in need around the world. Brian and I will remain ambassadors for A Better World, and we look forward to the Board of Directors and a new Executive Director continuing this important work into the future. We hope that you will continue to support the new leaders and see our dream live on. For today, please read on about our ongoing trips, projects and partnerships, as our work continues.
With all my gratitude,
Eric
