Dr. Tapio Hakala Memorial
On behalf of A Better World Canada:
We wish to express our condolences to Hilve, Ansa, Eelis, and friends and family of Dr. Tapio Hakala. Some of us have had the privilege of meeting Dr. Tapio. On a personal level he was a very gracious and generous host as well as a devoted family man. On a professional level, his dedication, expertise, and compassion with his patients at Kendu Bay Hospital was invaluable. His initiative and inspiring leadership style were driving forces in the development and continued operation of the Surgical Safari program in Kendu Bay. His surgical skills impacted the lives of countless children and their families. Dr. Tapio completed over 800 surgeries in the past 10 years. He will be sorely missed by his family, the Kendu Bay community, and A Better World Canada as partnering friends.
