Gatimu Speical Needs School
About the Project: Gatimu Special Needs School is located in Kenya and serves 113 students with a wide range of physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. The school provides specialized education and care in a nurturing environment, with 12 of its students being orphans. Many students require full-time support, and the dedication of the staff, led by Head Teacher Monica Mraya, has created a place where every child is valued and encouraged to thrive despite significant challenges. classrooms.
About the Site: The school currently boards 48 students but has reached full capacity, forcing many children in need to remain on waiting lists or be turned away. Existing boarding facilities are overcrowded, with boys and girls housed in the same building in separate rooms due to limited space. There is an urgent need to expand the school's boarding accommodations so more children with disabilities can access the specialized education, care, and safe living environment they deserve. A new water tower and solar-powered pump have also been committed to the site, helping improve access to reliable water as the school continues to grow.
