Gilgil Highway School

About the Project: Gilgil Teachers school is located in a high poverty area in Kenya. Currently, there are about 800 students currently attending the school. 

About the Site:  Located in the Gilgil township, the school serves one of the most vulnerable populations in Kenya. Many students come from the local slum, where households are often single-mother led and incomes are painfully low - under $2 per day for grueling work, or worse, survival through prostitution. Schools are overcrowded, and hunger remains the top reason for absenteeism.
