Gilgil Teachers School

About the Project: Gilgil Teachers school is located in a high poverty area in Kenya. Currently, there are about 800 students currently attending the school. The school has many needs, and these classrooms would be the first step to helping these children break the cycle of poverty.

About the Site: Located in the Gilgil township, the school serves one of the most vulnerable populations in Kenya. Many students come from the local slum, where households are often single-mother led and incomes are painfully low—under $2 per day for grueling work, or worse, survival through prostitution. Schools are overcrowded, and hunger remains the top reason for absenteeism.
