The Lacombe Composite High School is no stranger to supporting A Better World projects—this year, the Interact Club continues a long-standing tradition of giving back through a donation towards new toilets in Kenya.

The Club, running since 2011, was drawn to the idea of supporting the sanitation priority project this year. “Although the project wasn’t glamorous,” Club President Aaron Kenney says, “it is obvious how vital proper sanitation is, so we were eager to provide support.”
The fundraiser was a great success, as the club sold over 50 tickets to an exclusive screening of The Princess Bride through partnership with Lacombe City Cinemas. “The fundraiser continued to develop lasting relationships between the Interact club, the generous community of Lacombe, and the many nations in need of our support,” Kenney shares.
A few other big projects that the Club is involved with in the local community is the annual Terry Fox Run, with a large focus on the creation of the Afghanistan War Memorial in Lacombe this year. They launched fundraising for the memorial last year by selling popcorn and just recently sticky toffee pudding; the Club also maintains an active role in an ongoing Stickerdrive.
LCHS’s Interact Club truly embodies the mission of A Better World to work and partner with communities to make the world a better place. A huge thank-you to the club members and sponsors for supporting A Better World’s 2017 Priority Project.
