Red Deer News Now: Local non-profit A Better World heads to Africa this week for first team humanitarian trip in three years
The local non-profit organization A Better World (ABW) will be heading to Africa this Thursday for their first team trip in almost three years.
Based out of Lacombe, the international development organization has completed various humanitarian projects in over 15 countries over the past 32 years, in education, healthcare, and clean water systems, with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty.
New Toilets for Koige Primary
Parents, teachers, and community members are very excited about the six new toilets planned for Koige Primary School. A total of 184 parents attended the groundbreaking ceremony and dug the first 5 feet for the project to begin. Their investment and involvement shows how grateful they are to have toilets at school for their children.
Remembering Dan Jackson
During his chairmanship of A Better World, he helped it grow and travelled to many countries to work with A Better World, especially in crises. He was in Kenya during the post-election violence, Louisiana during Katrina and Sri Lanka after the Tsunami. He was a voice of reason, compassion and generosity. He will be remembered for his love for children and belief in providing young people with a bright future.
