Mahua Comprehensive School

About the Project: In 2023, Mahua became a new site for ABW. While a new classroom and office have been completed, a new kitchen remains a priority. The current kitchen is a small, wooden structure with an open fire. A new kitchen would provide a vented woodstove in a safer, smoke-free environment, along with improved serving facilities and more efficient food preparation for a healthier environment.

About the Site: Mahua Comprehensive School, established in 1991 northeast of Nakuru, serves 200 primary and 45 ECD students. Its aging facilities need urgent repair: only two of eight classrooms had good floors, one was condemned, and ECD classes share one room. The kitchen, staff room, and library are inadequate and exposed.
