Monday, February 12, 2018 – Medical assessment team in Tanzania

A team of six have begun their trip to Mombo, Tanzania where A Better World has been working for the past 5 years. Construction of schools, labs, water systems, clinics, and toilets are some of the things that have been taking place. This week’s mission is focused on assessing the Mombo Health Centre in Korugwe District with a plan of upgrading the facilities in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
The team consists of Dr. Wayne Church (Chair of the ABW Health Committee), Dr. Paulette Comeau, Barbara Wade (Medical Training Program Co-ordinator and Secretary of the Health Committee), Marcia Hill (Speech Pathologist), and Dr. Kelvin Hill (Dental Service Director and Secretary of the ABW Board).

Our hotel last night was located at the Machambe base of Mt. Kilimanjaro which is one of the starting points for climbers. We made it to the gate! – 200 meters from Millie Lodge.

On the way to Mombo, we stopped by to see three labs under construction for the Mkomazi School.

And visited with children who will use the labs at the school who will use the labs.

We have been sponsoring a community health clinic by providing water and equipment. We have been building their capacity to deliver more services by providing equipment.

Dr. Hill talking to local dental tech who is looking for the right tools.

It was a full day of traveling and seeing projects.

Wishing to climb.
