Monday, May 26th, 2014 Goodbyes at CERENID

Today was a wonderful but sad day for us. We woke up this morning to the warmth of the sun! We ate breakfast, hopped in our vans and headed for CERENID. Some of us continued to work while others attended school with the children in order to teach them English.

After eating lunch at the cafeteria, we played volleyball and soccer with them. In the meantime throughout the day we were eaten by “meri wees “. We then had to say goodbye to our new friends, which was quite sad because we had children hanging off of us not wanting us to leave; after this long goodbye we continued on to “el sauce”, another orphanage in Samaipata. This orphanage has 18 kids and is nestled inbetween the mountains. It was a beautiful sight to see! The director then showed us the carpentry shop, which helps support the orphanage. We had some wonderful food afterwards at supper. We then returned to the hotel, packed our bags, and watched fireworks from our windows in celebration of el Dia de la Madre (Mother’s Day). We played some games then headed to bed. Buenas noches!
