Completed : CAPTAIN PRIMARY SCHOOL – 4 New Classrooms

About the Project

Captain Primary is a growing school with a student population of more than 600 in primary and another 80 in early childhood development about to start school. Working with just eight classrooms (some in poor repair), teachers were forced to oversee classes of 54 to 69 students, with one teacher at the front of the class while another supported. ABW added four new classrooms to the site with water harvesting to supplement the school’s water supply.

Note: Three of these classrooms are dedicated to Julie Stegmaier, who retired in 2022 after 13 years of service as a coordinator, volunteer and donor. The fourth classroom is dedicated to the memory of June Fiorito.

The students are investigating their new learning space.

Construction of new classrooms entering the finishing phase.

Walls have started going up on the new classrooms.

Several of the older classrooms have fallen out of use.

The community and area dignitaries attended the groundbreaking.

The existing classrooms are beyond capacity in all grades.
