Completed : ENDOINYIO ERINKA CLINIC – New Solar and Toilets

About the Project

Endoinyio Erinka Clinic was built by ABW in 2012, with a deep well drilled at the same time. Over the next decade, the building degraded somewhat, and the windmill pumping the well was knocked over (possibly by elephant activity). While the well was reactivated by neighbouring conservancies, the clinic’s pit latrines had become unusable and the site still had no solar lighting. The local board asked for lighting, new latrines, and general maintenance. Septic toilets will provide longer solutions to patients needing to use the site as a bathroom. Solar lighting will allow nighttime operation for emergencies and births. This project will provide solar lighting for all spaces in the main building and power for refrigeration, and four septic toilets for public use.
