About the School
A Better World became involved with Sekenani Primary school in 2017. The school is located just outside the Maasai Mara National Reserve and serves a large community. All permanent classrooms, administrative office and the two girl’s dormitories have solar power. Water is piped in from the county but is turned off regularly, especially on weekends leaving the school without access to clean water. To compensate for the lack of water, the students collect water from the river which is roughly 500 meters away and from a nearby borehole. Boarding students receive three meals per day. The school also has a designated room used as a library where textbooks and other reading material are stored and are available for students to use.
