KENYA: MWENJA PRIMARY SCHOOL

About the Site

Mwenja Primary School is east of Nakuru. Established in 1987, it has a student population of 475 in primary with just 25 in ECD. When ABW encountered the school, eight classrooms had dirt floors and hadn’t been plastered, and the shutters were falling off, and there was a shortage of desks. Many of the toilets were old and needed replacement. In about 2020 a successful borehole was drilled by an unknown NGO, with an array of solar panels mounted on an elevated stand. The school also had a small kitchen without proper equipment that helped to serve meals for all the students.
