Completed : MURINDU HIGHWAY PRIMARY – 4 New Classrooms

About the Project

A new partner with A Better World, Murindu’s first needs to be met were to replace old, dilapidated classrooms with new stone buildings. Many of the current classrooms were dark, hot and cramped, with dirt floors and walls of metal sheets, boards or worn panelling. They offered a poor learning environment and limited protection from the elements. New classrooms are equipped with rain gutters and collection tanks to help preserve water for the school.

The school held a huge celebration to open the classrooms, with a visit from the local MP.

Four new classrooms with the walls up and roof on.

The school is well established and has several stone classrooms.

However, many of the classrooms in use are old and dilapidated.

Some classrooms are sheathed in metal sheets.

The oldest classrooms are made from fencing boards.

Older classrooms are dark, hot and deteriorating.

Some classrooms have dirt floors and little shelter from the elements.
