RWANDA: KAYONZA DEAFBLIND CENTRE

About the School

Friends of the Handicapped in Rwanda is an organization that supports villages where disabled people are often neglected and have little access to proper support. This Centre will specifically support deafblind students—children who have a degree of loss in both sight and hearing. The Rwandan government currently does not have any special school for deafblind children. This project was started by Rev. Dominique’s organization in the Kayonza district because it has a large population of deafblind individuals. According to the outreach program, they found 54 children with deafblindness; among these, 21 children are ready to come and join the centre.
