About the Project
Segera clinic has been operating in the residence hall of the mission, the same building where children and adults live, staff work, and cooking is done. The pharmacy, the delivery room, and the waiting area are also in the residence hall.
The residence needs to be renovated and repurposed solely as a residence hall. Because of the communicable diseases in that area and Covid-19, there have been certain periods during which the services offered to the community have had to be restricted.
For the safety of all residents, the clinic will be moved outside near the gate, where there is easy access for the community, separated from those that live in the residence hall.
Because of ABW’s involvement in Segera Mission and our long-term interest in developing this community, we are proposing that we support them in their vision to relocate the clinic from the residence hall.
The operating expenses are completely covered, thanks to a partnership with Galveston Urban Ministries (GUM) including local fees, insurance, and other expenses. ABW will support with the ear-marked funds to relocate the clinic, provide training as requested, have medical teams visit as necessary, and provide monitoring and professional services for the staff.
