TANZANIA: MKALAMO PRIMARY SCHOOL

About the Site

Mkalamo Primary School is a new partner of ABW in 2024. The school was started in 1945 and currently instructs more than 450 students. Located in the Korogwe Rural District of Tanzania, it is clustered with other schools where ABW has worked. Serving a community of more than 1200, the school is well established but suffers from aging infrastructure. The aging classrooms exhibit cracks and deterioration, failing to provide adequate protection against the elements. There is a scarcity of toilets, and they are approaching a state where condemnation is imminent.

The old classrooms are cracking and crumbling.

They don’t offer suitable protection from the elements.

The poor condition of the current classrooms is hindering the learning environment.

The existing toilets are shared by boys and girls at another local school.
