Rebecca Epp Receives International Women’s Day Award

Rebecca Epp, a volunteer for A Better World and Grade 12 Student at Lacombe Composite High School received this year’s International Women’s Day Award. Epp was presented the Violet Richardson Award at a luncheon held to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women.

The event was sponsored by the Soroptimist International of Central Alberta. The Violet Richardson Award is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools to make the world A Better Place.

The award is in honor of the President of the first Soroptimist Club, Violet Richardson, a woman of action, whose indomitable spirit and sense of personal responsibility were demonstrated by her life-long commitment to volunteering in her community.

Epp has received recognition for her dedication to community and international service. Epp has helped and mentored younger students and raised funds for international development with A Better World. Epp an accomplished violinist has been a member of the Rosedale Valley Strings or ten years and uses her and skill to inspire others. She traveled to Kenya on a “Music with a Mission Trip’ with the string group in 2010.
