Remembering Serah Wambui Mathea

Serah was born on 1st January 1976 at JM Memorial Hospital in Nyandarua County. She was the fifth-born child of Joyce Muthoni Mathea, the late Evanson Mathea Wanguruibi and the late Nelly Mathea. Serah grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings: Ann Nduta, Lawrence Mburu, the late Rose Nyambura, Mary Njeri, Irene Waithera, and Boniface Kamau.
She was also a sister to Ruth Nduta, Keziah Wanjiku, Rachael Njeri, Robinson Mburu, Alice Kabui, Peter Kangethe, Pauline Waithera, Susan Gathoni and Jenniffer Wambui.

Serah began her academic journey at Manyatta Primary School in 1984 and completed her primary education in 1992. In 1993, she joined Manyatta Secondary School, where she successfully completed her secondary education in 1996. Her determination and discipline in school were evident, and she carried these virtues into her adult life.

From an early age, Serah was nurtured in the Christian faith. She began attending Sunday School at Manyatta Full Gospel Church, where she laid a strong foundation in her spiritual life. As she grew older, she moved to Rurii Full Gospel Church in 2003, where she continued to grow in her faith and was baptized by Senior Pastor John Karangi. Her commitment to the church and to God remained steadfast throughout her life.

In 2017, Serah began experiencing health complications, including swelling in her legs. She was later diagnosed with valve blockage and was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital on 16th November 2017, where she underwent an open-heart surgery. Despite the challenges, she remained courageous and hopeful. Serah continued with regular medication and clinical reviews.
On Saturday, 27th April 2025, her health deteriorated and she was admitted to Charity Hospital, Nyahururu. Sadly, on 29th April 2025 at 4:40 AM, Serah peacefully went to be with the Lord.
