Sunday, March 6, 2016 – Sir John Franklin High School, Yellowknife students arrive for study tour in Kenya

18 tired by energetic students and teachers arrived for their study tour in Kenya today.  Arriving from the airport to a hotel for breakfast was an eye opener.  Today was the Kenyan’s first lady’s annual Marathon so the roads were closed.  We were re –routed via the industrial and residential areas.  We made it in time for breakfast and even got in to see the elephant orphanage.

The boat safari on the lake was fantastic. Many said they got their money’s worth on the first day.

They saw hippos, zebras,  giraffes and lots of birds

After dinner everyone went to bed as we have a big day tomorrow at schools

And it poured like no one had ever seen before for an hour.  It has been so dry in this area. It cooled things down

Today’s lesson: How to cope without WIFI, put up with traffic jams and not be cranky with no sleep for two days and life of an elephant.

Great students.
