Friday was a very full day as we toured Mombo H.C. with the district Medical Officer along with the town and district councillors. We also visited the new hospital site,10 of the proposed 22 buildings are finished although only outpatients is functioning. It is located halfway between Mombo and Korogwe in the middle of nowhere. We also toured a partially finished school for the mentally challenged that could also hold a rehab centre. This also was isolated along the highway.
On our own, we again visited the Korogwe hospital and saw the repurchased room that is functioning for physio and occupational therapy. The 2 therapists are enthusiastic and are working with a lot of makeshift equipment. The clinical officer and district Medical officer both agreed that the biggest need at Mombo was a new maternity structure.
Stay tuned, Wayne.
Now we have a few days to recharge!
